Tavern Dice: A Primer

Tavern Dice is a single dice system designed for narrative play. It is a genre-free system meant to work with whatever you want to build upon it. While the included document comes with a default setup, you can rework it however you want.

 

With just one 12-sided die, you can power your entire world. The main mechanic of Tavern Dice is Cumulative Rolls. High and low rolls are modifiers on what you roll and add up the more you get in a row.

 

Why should you use Tavern Dice?

Tavern Dice was designed to be used in a variety of situations that can be used to make the player feel Epic. The difference between this system and other systems is that as modifiers are rolled, they continuously build up leading to God-Like moments where the player succeeds so well they can break the in game universe, as well as the exact reverse.

 

Some of the modifiers subtract from the player’s roll and can make it seem like the universe has something against them. This can lead to some great comedy of error moments, so be sure to keep an eye on the rolls!
